SiriusXM (NASDAQ:SIRI) and CDK Global Inc (NASDAQ:CDK) Enhance Connected Car Solutions and Capabilities for Car Dealers Nationwide

SiriusXM (NASDAQ:SIRI), one of the leading supplier of connected vehicle services, and CDK Global Inc (NASDAQ:CDK), one of the major enabler of end-to-end automotive commerce are working to their partnership so as to make new and innovative connected vehicle solutions readily available and accessible to thousands of auto dealers as well as their retail customers. The services, which are a product of Automatic Labs, a SiriusXM company, will make use of the Fortellis Automotive Commerce Exchange™ platform to smoothly connect dealers to their consumers in ways that was not possible before.

Two-way connectivity for long-term loyalty

Automatic car plug-in adapter and the app and plug-in car adapter offers consumers with several safety and convenience features which include roadside assistance, crash alerts , engine light guidance, real-time vehicle tracking and sharing. In partnership with CDK, SiriusXM’s car solutions will offer a lot of capabilities, which add a lot of value to more consumers while at the same time encouraging them to stay in touch with their dealer. Buyers of cars will get a several convenient as well as time-saving features through the Automatic app. These include the ability to get estimates for repairs and parts, schedule service appointments and pay for the repair and parts using their smartphone.

These solutions are designed to align with the customer’s ownership journey and expectations. They start on the dealer’s lot, they shift to consumer after the sale, and then come back to the dealer for service. From the back ground, the technology which powers the new connections with the dealers systems plus that of other suppliers as well as the functionality are facilitated through Fortellis, which was unveiled recently by CDK at the 2018 NADA Show that was held in Las Vegas.

A better experience, beginning on the dealer’s lot

Automatic’s addition and enhancement to CDK Connected Lot will enable a dealer salesperson to know the exact location of inventory, locate other cars which need to be moved, and examine and know a car’s operability status in terms of fuel and battery levels. All this information will be accessed from smartphone. After gathering all this information, salesperson will take a customer directly to a vehicle they want well aware it is ready for a test drive. This creates thereby a better customer experience, saves time and improving dealer efficiency.

Currently, dealers have very little actionable information after a test drive other than miles on the odometer. By using the Connected Lot enhancement, dealers will be in a position to discern and choose the vehicles they are interested in, increase their sales team’s performance, and make sure that vehicles are being accordance to their dealership policies.
