Scottish entrepreneurs Michelle Mone and Doug Barrowman are looking forward to raising about $80 million in a token offering in the coming month. According to them, they will be using the funds to finance an investment platform, which they strongly believe will do much towards opening up venture capital investment to a huge audience.
EQUI happens to be one of the web-based applications on the widely renowned Ethereum blockchain. Fundamentally, the Projects are exhibited on the platform and quite a large number of the participants resort to using EQUI tokens towards the acquisition of a stake in projects. Returns are eventually distributed to the venture’s investors but that is of course at that point when the project is completed.
A billionaire private equity investor called Barrowman said that Venture capital had traditionally been the preserve of ultra-high net worth individuals and institutions. Fundamentally, the little guys are usually precluded. With EQUI it is very much possible for the various people to move ahead and make token purchases and they can also move a step further to make investments in the businesses that have been set up in the investment platform.
The EQUI project is one among a series of ventures which have for over quite some time struggled to raise funds through the initial coin offerings. That is through the creation as well as the sale of tokens for investors.
A lot is changing in terms of the business dynamics around the globe. It is a similar case here considering that the various token buyers will be in the position to make a series on investments in business projects aligned to technology and that is with specific regard to the blockchain space.
Barrowman in a recent interview said that the investors had the freedom to either use the token on exchanges or hold it for long-term value.
A person familiar with the most recent developments opined, “The EQUI platform utilizes the Ethereum blockchain to process and store credentials, information, and transactions, including the acquisition of project stakes, distribution of profits and investment returns, as well as investor rewards.”
